This week, our managing director, Rob Goodman, featured on BBC Midlands Today and BBC Coventry and Warwickshire to talk about our work with care homes across the UK. We were proud to have the opportunity to tell our story and detail how we have managed to diversify in these difficult times, from our norm of supporting our clients at events, to facilitating family visits for care home residents with our visiting pods for care homes. We hope that we are making a positive difference to many people’s lives and that we can continue to do so.

As a small but long established business operating within the events industry, the Covid-19 global pandemic has been more than testing for Showplace, particularly in the early months of lockdown. With events across the UK being postponed or cancelled, our usually busy summer season vanished. The events industry has certainly been hit hard. But with this huge Covid obstacle, as with many problems we face through life, there are consequential opportunities. Sometimes it takes some digging to unearth them, but they are there! For Showplace, with a large stock of temporary structures and event trailers at our Stratford-upon-Avon base, we realised that we had an opportunity to make a difference to the care sector as well as help other businesses who needed some extra space to be able to safely get back to work.
For the past few months, the Showplace team has been travelling up and down the country, installing visiting pods for care homes. While our roots are entrenched in the events world, our diversification into the care home sector has been hugely rewarding. To enable residents to receive visits from their families and loved ones again, after experiencing many months without that critical face to face contact, has brought joy to so many; not only the residents and their families but also the care home staff and everyone at Showplace. The feedback we receive from users of the care home visitor pods is heart warming and brings hope in these extremely testing times.
2020 is an extremely difficult year for so many people and businesses, but we hope that Showplace can continue to reunite families and bring smiles to many faces.
