Jacob Lowe, a member of Showplace’s structures team, found an exhilarating and somewhat nerve racking way to celebrate his birthday at the weekend!
On 21st February, at 4.30am, Jacob’s alarm went off; a very early reminder that he was about to face his fear of heights, thanks to his partner, Natasha. Eight months ago, Natasha very generously booked a 10,000 feet sky dive for Jacob’s 25th birthday. Up for the challenge, Jacob saw the sky dive as an opportunity to raise much needed funds for , a cause which means a great deal to him and also to Natasha. In the weeks leading up to the jump, he managed to raise £440 in sponsorship and he hopes that the total will continue to rise!
Jacob arrived in Salisbury for a 6.30am briefing and pre-jump training with , a company based in Salisbury who pride themselves on being the specialists for first-time jumpers.
When asked about the experience, Jacob said, “I was increasingly nervous leading up to the day of the jump but on arriving in Salisbury at 6.30am, the Go Sky Dive team were excellent and quickly put me at ease. They were all really friendly, thorough in their training and reassuring. As for the sky dive itself, the 30 second free fall element was incredible and the adrenaline certainly kicked in! Once the parachute had opened, the views of the Salisbury countryside were amazing too. Maybe one day, I might be tempted to jump again!”
Everyone at Showplace is extremely proud and impressed with Jacob facing his fear of heights while raising money for Cancer Research UK.
For the next challenge…15,000 feet?!
