Showplace was delighted to accept the opportunity to work with Team England at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, providing a range of structures and pods to assist throughout the duration of this renowned sporting event.
This year marked the 22nd Commonwealth Games, which have taken place every four years since their initial commencement in 1930. The city of Birmingham provided the backdrop for the 2022 Commonwealth Games and took place from 28th July to 8th August across 15 venues. In total, 5,000 athletes from 72 countries came together to compete in a wide range of sports, including athletics, gymnastics, martial arts, aquatics and many more.
Showplace provided various temporary structures and modular pods at the University of Birmingham鈥檚 athlete village, accommodating the athletes鈥� needs with regards to physiotherapy, meeting areas and spaces for relaxation and recuperation. The structures were powered by 75kWh battery systems, ultimately removing the need for a generator or fuel, providing a reliable and silent power source. Not only did this reduce C0鈧� emissions by 100%, but the lack of noise also provided a relaxing environment for the athletes throughout their busy schedules.
